About the Event
The Programme on Women’s Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, New Delhi, (PWESCR) and the International Centre for Ethnic Studies (ICES), will host a roundtable discussion on ‘Economic and Social Justice for Women in Post-War Sri Lanka’ to be held at the ICES Auditorium on 27th August from 3 – 7 PM.
The discussion will take place in two parts. During the first part six women activists will discuss some key socio-economic challenges facing women in the current political context to be followed by an interactive discussion. During the second part, Virginia Bras Gomes, Member of the UN Committee for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights from Portugal, will speak on the relevance of international mechanisms for the delivery of economic and social justice for women.
Thirty women human rights leadres from 14 countries (who will be part of a PWESCR leadership Institute in Women’s ESCR from 26th-31st August) will provide additional perspectives.
