The Reluctant Fundamentalist is a 2012 political thriller based on the 2007 best-selling novel The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Moshin Hamid, directed by Mira Nair, starring Riz Ahmed and Kate Hudson , ShabanaAzmi, Om Puri, Liev Schreiber. The film follows the transformation of the wide-eyed Pakistani Changez Khan (RizAhmed) who arrives in the US with great professional ambitions. And he accomplishes much before the planes hit the World Trade Centre, a crisis that challenges his materialism, leading him to a step back from many choices he’s made in his capitalist career and his love life. The author Moshin Hamid is a Pakistani . The novelhas been featured on best seller lists, shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, and translated into over 30 languages. Indian born director, actor and producer Meera Nair who directed this film won a number of awards including a National Film Award and various international film festival awards. Many of her films “Salaam Bombay,” “Mississippi Masala,” “Monsoon Wedding,” “Kama Sutra,” and “The Namesake” have been highly praised by critics.(130 minutes)
