Understanding Religious Conflict and Coexistence Launch of Three Publications 8th April 2016 Hilton Colombo Residences 3.30 p.m. 7.00 p.m.

The International Centre for Ethnic Studies is pleased to invite you to the launch of three recent publications on religious conflict and inter-religious coexistence. The three publications Self, religion, identity and politics: Buddhist and Muslim encounters in contemporary Sri Lanka by Dhammika Herath and Harshana Rambukwella; Fracturing Community: Intra-group relations among the Muslims of Sri Lanka by Mohamed Faslan and Nadine Vanniasinkam; and Picturing Coexistence and Conflict: Learning about the other through Grassroots Comics; are part of an initiative at understanding the rise in religious radicalism, exploring intra-religious relations among the Muslim community; and understanding inter-religious coexistence at the community level. The launch will also feature an exhibition of grassroots comics and a screening of short films on inter-religious coexistence.

 The launch will take place at the Hilton Colombo Residences, 200 Union Place, Colombo 2, on the 8th April from 3.30 p.m. 7.00 p.m. followed by a reception.
