Kandy is independent and international in its research, outlook
and audience, with a natural emphasis on Sri Lanka and South
Asia. Projects are a synthesis of detailed country analyses
and broader regional analyses, all placed within the global

The
research output is subject to rigorous quality assessment
by internal peer reviews and a multidisciplinary team of researchers.
The ICES leadership and research staff are generalists as
well as specialists, and are impartial and non-ideological
in their analytical approach. The proven expertise of the
senior research staff, distinguished figures in their fields,
is one of its greatest assets. The Centre has a 25-year track
record of quality research and publishing, one which it is
dedicated to maintaining. In doing so, it remains committed
to its core values of intellectual independence, accuracy,
impartiality, integrity and excellence.
The
Centre also actively develops close working relationships
with academics and other research centres, both locally and
overseas, and co-ordinates groups of varied and geographically
dispersed researchers toward common goals.
The
ICES Kandy is open to researchers and scholars of all countries
and disciplines. Researchers, scholars and advisors come from
Sri Lanka, the South Asian region, and around the world, and
are supported by an experienced, multiethnic and multilingual
Sri Lankan staff. Researchers have access to ICES staff expertise,
the library, and a network of academics and experts who can
provide guidance for research.
